Matteo Fogale is a designer based in London. He works in the fields of product design, bespoke furniture, interiors and installations led by a design approach that considers honest and premium materials, functionality and longevity of the product. The result is a combination of everyday objects reinterpreted with a strong iconic character. With a strong background in arts, he enjoys craft as much as industrial manufacturing and tries to combine both where ever it is possible, while experimenting with different techniques. A passionate maker, always looking for interesting materials and how to use them in different ways with a non-traditional approach. His work is inspired on one hand by the contrast of textures, shapes and colours found in nature, art and industry. And on the other hand, from the reflection of different experiences and feelings gathered from our surrounding environment.
Matteo was born in Montevideo (Uruguay) and moved to Italy in 2001. He studied at the Art School Leonardo da Vinci followed by a degree in Art and Design at IUAV University of Venice under professors such as Michelle de Lucchi and Tobia Scarpa and a work experience as graphic designer for the agency Lokomotive in Treviso. After graduating he worked on a wide variety of projects, from high-end furniture design, industrial product design and bespoke commissions pieces with design studios like Patricia Urquiola, Nichetto and Partners, BarberOsgerby and MAP Project Office, gaining excellent working skills from concept generation and design to technical development. After working many years within the industry in 2013 he established his own brand brose~fogale in collaboration with designer Joscha Brose, designing, producing and distributing the Camerino Collection. First introduced in Milan Furniture Fair at Edit by designjunction the Camerino Collection was launch on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and traveled Europe in various exhibitions like Blickfang in Zurich, IMM in Cologne and The London Design Festival in London. In September 2014 he launched a new collection of furniture and products in collaboration with the designer Laetitia de Allegri during the London Design Festival which won the Wallpaper* Design Awards 2015 ‘Best Denim’.
